There was a reasonable attendance at Kepak Clonee on Saturday for the 8 mile road race, given that the AAI 10km road race was to be held on Sunday.  Eddie Reid and family put a lot of effort into organising this race, given the small team of people involved.  Marian Hughes, Kathleen O’Callaghan and Richard Dunne worked hard to get the results out.  Our thanks to all of them.   Kathleen got her reward on Sunday by being part of the team that won the gold medals in the women’s masters category at the AAI road race.  Congratulations to her.  Click on "read more"…

There was some good competition and Thomas Fitzpatrick of Suzuki Cars came home in first, followed by Peter Mooney (EPA) and Stephen McKeigue (Defence Forces).  In the women’s category, Lorraine Manning (Garda) continued her run of good form by winning comfortably from Catherine Dunne (Childcare) and Orla Gormley (Aer Lingus).

In the vet categories, Chris Keeling (Sanbra Fyffe) celebrated his last day in the M45 category by taking second place.  Happy Birthday Chris.

There are several unknowns in the results – if you can identify any of them, let me know.

Results are in the attached pdf file.  Results can also be viewed on the website, as well as photos – www.bhaa.ie.

Our next race is the RTE 5 mile road race at Donnybrook next Saturday 26 April 2008.  Combined start at 11.00am.  Registration at the RTE Sport and Social Club.  More details from Niall Mathews 2082591 (w) or Jim Carraher 2084140 (w).  This is always an enjoyable event so make sure you turn up early to enter, particularly if you have not already registered as a BHAA member in 2008.

Mick Martin (Bank of Ireland) has informed me that the race organisers have given permission to companies in the financial services sector to have an inter-company challenge within the RTE event so if you are interested in being part of that, contact Mick on 087-2434698 (Michael.Martin@newireland.ie).

See you on Saturday.
