KClub 10k Preview
Online Registration closes Thursday 18th at 6pm.
All BHAA disciples are bound for Kildare & the beautiful K Club this weekend to run a great 10k with legendary afters. This is a flat, fast course designed for personal bests and with good weather forecast, many should lower their 10k finishing times. The race starts at 11am and registration is open from 9.30. Please note we are asking all Day members to pre-register using the online booking system before Thursday 6pm to guarantee your entry and avoid queues on the morning.
Last year, Andrew Ledwith won the race in 30.49 with Paul Stephenson & Eoin Brennan second & third. Barbara Cleary was the first woman home followed by Emilia Dan & Joyce O’Hare. This is the second fixture of the summer season and is one of our two 10k races annually. We’ll remind all runners since this is an open road race that headphones are forbidden at all BHAA events for your and others safety.
Race promoter Gerry Byrne has made this race a must on the running calendar & in 2011, it won the “BHAA Race of the Year” accolade. Gerry has confirmed that all profits will be given to charity, last year the Pieta House recieved a donation of 1500e from this race. Get to Straffan early to savour the majestic surroundings of the 2006 Ryder Cup hosts & register on-line in advance as we expect large numbers as always for this.
Over the past few races we have been experiencing some technical difficulties with the chip timing equipment and computer systems. We are urgently addressing these issues and have been working with the equipment manufacturers to resolve the problems. We ask for your patience as we sort the issues out. On Saturday we will also be taking a manual back up at the finish line so please be prepared to be routed into finishing chutes so we can record your positions. On behalf of the BHAA Committee, I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this equipment malfunction and I can assure you we are doing our best to rectify the situation as soon as possible.
We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday morning.
