Dublin City Council 5km Road Race
Dublin City Council/Business Houses Athletics Association 5K Irishtown Stadium/Ringsend Park
Wednesday 14th July @ 7.30 p.m.
Since its commencement in 2005, this race has been popular with all categories of runners and joggers. Uniquely, it is a downtown race with accessibility by foot from the city centre, and also by bus, Dart, bike, and car. There is additional car-parking at Clann Na Gael/Fontenoy GAA club on Sean Moore Rd. The weather is invariable dry and warm. It also the benefits of good changing rooms and showers in the fine public utility that is Irishtown Stadium.
Also unique for most road runners and joggers in Ireland , is that the race starts and finishes on the stadium track. After the initial track laps, the runners move into the adjacent Ringsend Park for three laps on the paths before returning into the stadium.
So it has the benefit of a fast flat course. Refreshments are available afterwards in the main building where there will be a quiz with many prizes.
The race has always been well attended and last year had a group of American college students. So if you want a downtown race with an opportunity to strut on a tartan track, this is your chance. A large turnout is expected, so please try get there early to register.
