BHAA Winter 2011/2012 Events
The BHAA Winter League starts again on October 10th with the Teachers cross country race around the grounds of Castleknock College. The early season challenge to find those spikes hidden in a bag in the garage but the effort is usually well rewarded. In November we move to the sands of Dollymount strand where Bank Of Ireland will have the tide out and a 6km race for all to enjoy. No rest for the wicked as South Dublin County Council open the new year in Tymon Park, Tallaght with the usual combination of cold wind and muck, the challenge here is to stay off the paths. Two weeks later it’s Eircom’s turn to host us at Cherryfield Park and it’s well worth hanging around for the spot prizes. At the start of February we have the North County Farmers race in Swords but watch out for the bales of hay on the course. We return to the Phoenix Park for the 20th running of the Garda cross country two weeks afterwards and we’ve been told that an extra effort will be put in by the organisers this year, which based in the high standard last year should set a new record. March closes out the season with visits to Maynooth College for the AIB/NUI race, a week later we fly to the Dublin Airport race in ALSAA on March 10th 2011 and the season is closed out with the North County Farmers flood lite 5km race in Malahide on March 21st.
