Never run this before & only discovered weeks ago that there are spikes longer than 7mm. Will it be a 12mm spike day?

St Colmcille GAA, Balheary, Swords,
Out M1 towards Swords, go past Pavillion shopping centre to last roundabout (Estuary Roundabout), take left onto R125 (W Seatown),
turn right at first traffic lights onto Balheary Rd, continue for 0.5km past old Motorola plant, take left at S Bank, Clubhouse is on left
that's according to Na Fianna GFC

R Enjoyed the mud, rain & those bales that seemed to rise a few centimetres every lap. Thanks to all concerned.

Yeah, thanks to Paul and the rest of the helpers to-day, a throughly enjoyable race, only one problem (Again !). Why ! oh Why ! do the few (I was going to say something rude there but I'll holdback!!) runners decide to run on the tarmac footpath to gain that bit of advantage over their fellow runners who stick with the rules and run in the sticky mud ?!, I certainly view this as cheating and those doing this should be red carded by the officials and if not should be ashamed of themselves, particularly if they had the audacity to go up and pick up a prize after resorting to these sly tactics.
If the officials aren't going to do anything about it I would encourage runners to show their anger (Verbally !) toward these runners during the race.
I would have thought that a simple piece of advice from the officials at the start line to desist from this would certainly discourage these individuals from attemting this during the race ?.
Thar said Thanks again to the orgainisers to-day.

NCF 2010 Individual Results are online now. I'll also start adding the results in the PDF file format from now on, and online team results will be added later in the week.

On behalf of all our team members I would like to sincerely thank Paul and the NCF lads for another fantastic race. To be fair we should recognise that trojan work goes into organising the unique features of the NCF race, such as the placement of bale obstacles, clearance of any dangerous objects in the wooded area and tactical positioning of the chicane shoot down by the Ward river. Thanks also to the Swords Labs lads and ladies for helping out with the registration. Looking forward to the 3rd NCF Malahide run under lights soon.
PS: coludn't agree more with the post regarding the footpaths. I have highlighted this matter under the SDCC XC Race thread.
God Bless.

First off the starter never even told anybody how many laps the race was so expecting them to tell people to stay off the paths is minor!!!!! As it is, the path ran right beside the course and had no tape or any indication to stay off it. If it was that important it should have been said before hand. I seen some runners running on it and most of them had runners on,not spikes. As it was only a very small section of path I wouldn't get too hot and bothered about it. It seems the bails of hay was the BIG THING and the rest wasn't so important.
The big problem to me was that silly mud section beside the river. That was just plain silly and dangerous.I mean what was the point?
Now as a certain bitter Cork sourpuss says "GET OVER IT"

Great race on saturday as usual. Just a reply about the running on the paths/tarmac. I did see a guy runnin on the path after the bridge at one stage but I'm sure his momentum carried him over the wrong side of the tape. he jumped back in as soon as he could.
What I'm saying is that sometimes it happens accidentally or you are forced to do it if you are passing and an athlete steps in front of you.
We all know running on paths with 9mm or 12 mm spikes is not really an advantage.I'd gladly have avoided that bridge on saturday. Thought the spikes would break or my ankle would twist had one of the spikes went missing.
So lets look at this and not disqualify everybody that threads on hard ground!
Lets not argue over it .
